• Kadala (Bengal Gram) - 1/2 Kg • Onion (Sliced) - 1 nos • Ginger (Sliced) - 1 tsp • Garlic (Sliced) - 1 tsp • Tomato (Sliced) - 1 nos • Coconut bites - as required • Vayalil Spices Kadala Curry Masala - 2 or 3 Tbsp • Turmeric powder - a pinch • Mustard - 1 tsp • Red Chilli - 3 nos • Curry leaves - as required • Salt - to taste
Preparation
Recipe Cook Time: 30 Minutes
Rinse in water once and soak Kadala in water for at least 8 to 10 hours. In a cooker add some water, soaked Kadala, salt and a pinch of turmeric powder. Cook until it becomes soft. Heat oil in a pan add onion and sauté it until it becomes soft. Add ginger, garlic, tomato and Vayalil Spices Kadala Curry Masala. Sauté until you get the aroma of the Masala. Then, add the cooked kadala into this and add salt to taste. For seasoning Heat another pan with coconut oil. Fry the coconut bites and keep it aside. In the same pan add mustard, shallot, curry leaves and Red Chilli and stir for a few seconds. Add all this into the kadala curry and serve it hot with Puttu, Idiyappam, Chapati etc.
